Price County Fishing Report 10-23-2012
By Professional Guide John Ross
Water temps have stabilized or even gone up a few degrees with the warmer days. I have been seeing water temps in the upper 40s to about 51 degrees. Fall fishing should go crazy the end of this week as a major weather system pushes through the north woods.
Our guides are pretty much just chasing Musky right now and the action has been hot. The warmer temps have pushed the fish back into shallower water. Yesterday all of our action was found in 3 to 6 feet of water. Weighted Suicks are still doing well for us. We did have some good action on large plastics like Tackle Industries Mag D's and Musky Innovations Double Dawgs.
Natural colors have been the best producing colors for us. One thing to remember is slow down. If you think your fishing slow enough and not having action slow down some more. The live bait bite is starting to pick up as well so make sure you stop by the store to pick up some of our fresh suckers to increase your chances of boating a trophy.
Pictured is Tom, who's Grandpa got him a half day fishing with Guide John Carlson for his birthday to try and catch his first Musky. Tom caught his first and second. Also Pictured is Mike with a Musky caught with Ross’s Bait Shop guides. |
