NW Wisconsin Fishing Report July 14, 2013

Summer is in full swing. The panfish bite has been really hot. Small jigs such as Shrimpos, Flu Flus, and Cubby Jigs have been producing lots of nice bluegills and crappies in 8 to 12 feet of water. In deeper water lakes, the graphs have been lighting up in 20 to 30’ of water. Bottom bouncers with small floating jigs and minnows have been deadly for catching a mess of perch in a short time.
Daisy Bengtson, of Rochester, MN, recently enjoyed a fun day of fishing on a Polk County lake.
Largemouth bass are hitting on almost anything plastic and weedless in and near new weed beds. Surface lures towards evening have resulted in lots of bass in the boat. The big fish of the week was 21” and about five pounds caught on a Chug a Pop.
Musky action on Bone and Deer lakes in Polk County has been slow, with alot of follows, but lots of recreational boating hasn’t been conducive to good fishing. The weather forecast for next week is hot and humid, so fish early and late for best weather and less boat activity.
Good fishing!
