Dave's Minocqua Fishing Report 10-17-2012
Hi from the shores of Lake Minocqua. Fall is in full swing here in the Lakeland area. We have been having fronts move through every couple days making for some tough fishing conditions. Walleyes are in their fall patterns and have been providing good action. Muskies have been providing some good days and other times are impossible to find.
My Canada trip with my sons was less that great. With a total of 2 1/2 days with 6 anglers and 4 days with 4 anglers we only boated a total of 5 Muskies. Certainly not an impressive performance. It was a great trip with my sons but I think we could have done better fishing Muskies in the Lakeland area.
Last Friday I had the pleasure of fishing with Jim Tepp and his daughter Kristal. We had a good day catching Walleyes, we hit two lakes putting together a nice limit together including a nice 19 incher that Kristal caught.

Saturday and Sunday I fished with the Calloner brothers from the Fox River Valley we were chasing Muskies. Last year the guys boated one Musky and saw a few more so that was our goal. The weatherman dealt us a wicked blow with wind, rain, and cool temps. Even though we hit 4 different lakes we failed to boat a fish.
Tuesday and Wednesday I fished with Bill Van Schyndel and Al Wilson of Appleton. The guys were not keeping any fish, Tuesday we caught 12 Walleyes the biggest was 18 inches. Wednesday we hit a different lake and only caught one small Walleye in an hour so we pulled the boat and headed to Lake Minocqua. I stopped at the bait shop picking up some large red tail chubs on the way. We finished up the morning putting together a nice mixed bag of Bass and Pike.
For me the season is coming to an end, at this time of the year weather can be a real challenge. Walleyes continue the best bet these are eaters not wall hangers. That's it for now folks good luck fish in and remember
