Kewaunee/Door County Salmon Tournament

Day 4 Results — Tuesday, July 23, 2013

Terry Gfeller’s 32.41 pound monster leads the tourneyStrong winds roughed up Lake Michigan and limited action at most ports. Washington Island took the hardest hit; only one fish was weighed, and it was caught the night before.

There was only one top 20 change in the leader board Tuesday, a 26-pounder at Sturgeon Bay moving into the 14th spot. The whopper, caught by David Lewis of Oneida, hit a Howie Fly about 50 feet down in 130 feet of water on the Bank Reef around 9 a.m.

A total of 21 more 20-pound-plus salmon were weighed, including eight at Algoma and six at Sturgeon Bay. The total of “20s” stands at 169, and the top 90 fish are already 22 pounds and larger.

In addition to the top prizes, participants at each port have a chance at winning the biggest fish of the day prize. A $25 check, limited edition port prize winner cap, Flanigan Distributing soft-pack cooler and baits from Big Lake Tackle, Big Weenie, Great Lakes Tackle and Outfitting, Howie’s Tackle, Luhr Jensen, Moonshine Lures and Opti Tackle are packed inside a special Plano spoon box.

Tickets are still available. Entry fee is $25 for the remainder of the event, or $13 for a one-day chance. Get your tickets and K/D merchandise at Kewaunee Marina, Algoma BP, Howie’s Tackle, 57 Depot, Kap’s Marina, Greystone Castle and Lakeshore Lighthouse. Daily updates are available on the K/D Salmon Tournament Facebook page and www.kdsalmon.com.
