Ashland Area Fishing Report 5-24-2013

Fishing Guide Roger LaPenter from Anglers All, (715)-682-5754, http://www.anglersallwisconsin.
Reports: The Big Lake may be muddy right now but fishing is still great. The Bass are biting everywhere on the Big Lake with the Anglers using a variety of bait, both live bait and plastics like grubs, twister tails and tube jigs have been getting the fish to bite. The fish are very active now. The Inlands are having good luck with Bass, Walleye, Northern and Pan Fish all biting. The Creeks are just not good right now. They are too high and fast to fish but we always want to wet your appetite with the fish that are biting. It won’t be long before the waters clear on the Big Lake the Creeks come down.

Fishing Guide Scott Bretting from River Rock Inn and Bait Shop, (715)-682-3232, http://www.riverrockinn.net
Michelle at River Rock reports fishing was beyond great until the rain and cold temps hit us this week. Now the Creeks are just too high and rapid to fish. The Big Lake is muddy but very fishable and the outlook is good. It usually just takes a few days for the lake to clear up. Anglers fishing White River were catching Walleyes and Browns this week but anglers need to use caution as the River is high and flowing fast. The forecast is looking good for the weekend and fishing will get better and better!

The Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce reports:

Call the local bait shops for any fishing news! (Anglers All, 715-682-5754 or River Rock, 715-682-3232).

Look for the upcoming free fishing weekend in Wisconsin on June 1st and 2nd.  Fish anywhere in Wisconsin for free without a license or trout stamp on Free Fishing Weekend. This includes all inland waters and Wisconsin’s side of the Great Lakes and Mississippi River. Other fishing rules apply, such as limits on the number and size of fish you can keep and any seasons when you must release certain fish species. So, pack up the family or call your friends and head to the water for fishing fun. Kids Fishing Day at the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center will be Saturday, June 1, 2013 - 9:00am to 1:00pm.
