Ashland Area Fishing Report 6-13-13

Fishing Guide Scott Bretting from River Rock Inn and Bait Shop, (715)-682-3232, http://www.riverrockinn.net

Angler and Guide Nate at River Rock reports fishing has been super for all species of fish. Small Mouth Bass are getting up on the beds now with water temperatures warming up 7 or 8 degrees in the last week, approximately 60 - 61 in the shallows. Anglers are catching Smallies averaging 18 tp 21 inches using Senkos (plastic worms). If you hook them wacky style, crankbaits are good and some anglers are starting to use topwater bait. Walleyes are really biting in the Bay right now whether you are trolling or casting. Trolling is good off of Long Island and in the South Channel and also good out on the Flats. Anglers are using boards and downriggers and catching Cohos, Lake Trout, King Salmon, and an occasional Brown Trout.

Fishing on the Inlands has been good as the water temperatures warm up. Crappies are biting and Blue Gills are in pre-spawn right now and some are making beds - depending on which Lake you are fishing on.

Fishing Guide Roger LaPenter from Anglers All, (715)-682-5754, http://www.anglersallwisconsin

Carolyn at Anglers All Reports: The Big Lakehas great fishing right now. Bass are in still in pre-spawn, spawn and some in post-spawn mode. Most fishing is being done at Sand Cut, Oak Point and Brush Point areas. Trout and Salmon fishing has been very good in the shallower waters. Fishing has been most productive trolling along the mud lines with stickbaits. As the water temperatures continue to warm the fish will go deeper and the Anglers will then move to using spoons and bait flies and run off of downriggers, dipsey divers and leadcore. Good places to fish without a boat are on the Ashland Marina Breakwall for Pan Fish and the Hot Pond for Bass and Walleye. The Inlands are having good luck with Bass, Walleye, Northern and Pan Fish all biting with Crappies, Blue Gills and Bass on beds.
