Black, minority Trump supporters censored by Gannett, other media at 2020 RNC Convention. Expect the same as Milwaukee hosts 2024 RNC Convention. Look back four years Wisconsin, to compare and contrast Gannett’s corrupt coverage of the 2020 Republican and Democratic National Conventions to know what to expect July 15-18 when the nation’s eyes rest on Milwaukee, home of the 2024 RNC convention.  The DNC will showcase its conventi...

The North Woods was Blessed

The North Woods was blessed with another week of summer like weather, the sunny warm conditions have held water temps in the low 70's and the fish are still in a summer pattern. Ross's Sport Shop Guides targeted a number of species of fish this week and did well on most of them. A lot of good reports of panfish are coming into the store right now as well.

091113price1Earlier in the week I had the pleasure to guide husband and wife Joe and Jenny for a mixed bag of Crappie, Perch, Bluegill and Walleye. We hit the water in the mid afternoon and started out on a deeper break and picked up a number of Walleye. I had Joe casting off the deep side of the break with a jig and a minnow to pick up the Walleye. I had Jenny casting a small jig and a chunk of crawler to the top side of the break and she was picking up some nice Bluegill and Perch. We then moved to the main basin area of the lake and found a school of Crappie with my electronics, We casted slip floats and minnows to the fish and picked up about a dozen nice crappie. We finished the evening out working some shorelines with jig and minnows picking up some nicer Walleye and Perch.

Musky action has been ok, Our guides have been moving fish mostly on the Surface or with bucktails. My favorites right now are Esox Assault's EA-9 and prop baits like the Lake X Dr. Evil or the Suick Nitewalker. I have had the best luck working these baits with moderate speed. Thru most of the year I favor brighter colors but as we get later in fall I feel I have better luck on more natural color lures.

Hook and Line Sturgeon opened over the weekend with great reports of sub legal fish coming in. It sounds like there is a good number of mid 40 to mid 50 in fish out there that are providing some great action. The legal limit is 60 inches this season with a limit of one per season with the purchase of a $20 tag. Remember if you do get lucky enough to get one of these giant fish over 60" you must register it at a registration station. Ross's Sport Shop does offer that service.

Attached is a picture of me with an average sized musky that ate an Esox Assault EA-9 last week on a price county area lake.
