Richland County Fishing Report—October 22, 2014
By Wayne Morgenthaler
Trout season is closed but it was a very productive year. Streams are at normal water level and getting ready for the trapping season. The backwaters of the Wisconsin River are providing some action.
With the change in water temperature the bluegills are biting on wax worms near the weed edges. I advise using light line and small bobber. Crappies are taking minnows early in the morning or late at night.
The northerns are becoming more active and hitting on green or orange Mepps number 3 spinner without the bucktail. The big largemouth bass are just starting to bite and like a weedless lethal weapon with a blue or green plastic. Make sure to stop at the local bait stores in Muscoda and Richland Center for good advice on what is happening.
