Black, minority Trump supporters censored by Gannett, other media at 2020 RNC Convention. Expect the same as Milwaukee hosts 2024 RNC Convention. Look back four years Wisconsin, to compare and contrast Gannett’s corrupt coverage of the 2020 Republican and Democratic National Conventions to know what to expect July 15-18 when the nation’s eyes rest on Milwaukee, home of the 2024 RNC convention.  The DNC will showcase its conventi...

Rice Lake Fishing Report 6/16/14

The fishing right now continues to be very good overall. Water temps are in the 70's depending on the lake, but the fish are active and it is a great time to be out catching fish.

Finding the walleyes right now seems to be more of a spot on spot situation. They are sitting on certain areas, but when you find them, you should be able to catch several of them. Some are sitting on more developed weed structures, and others are sitting on the first flat on various structures.  It seems your smaller fish are holding in a little shallower water, and the bigger fish are slightly deeper. That’s not to say they don't all hold in the same place with the same size fish, but it seems the deeper you go, the bigger fish are there.

Right now several styles are working. Slip bobbers with a leech, lindy rigs, jigging, and spinners are all producing fish. Depending on the situation and where the fish are holding should dictate your presentation.

The big gills are still on beds on many local lakes.  Rain this week may slow that down a little bit but you will still find many of them in shallow water. If the weather pushes them off the beds, fish slightly deeper in four to six feet of water and the fish will be staging just outside their beds. Many of these fish have been pressured with a long drawn out spawn, so try something different. Use a plain hook and a small sinker, but ditch the bobber. Cast it into the shallows and slowly jig, or slowly swim the bait back. You will be surprised how effective this can be.

Good luck fishing and remember, introduce someone new into the outdoors. They will appreciate it for a lifetime.
