Price County Fishing Report

On Wisconsin Outdoors

On Wisconsin Outdoors

The warm unseasonable air temps really brought out a lot of anglers over the weekend. Many anglers were putting out permanent ice shacks. Ice thickness ranged around 7 inches. Vehicle traffic is definitely not advised. Anyone traveling across lakes whether on foot or on ATV /sleds should be aware that ice thickness can change so be careful. Angers were reporting good activity for crappie, walleye and pike. Walleye anglers using tip ups in 10-12 ft of water were catching some nice eater size walleyes. Most of the walleye activity was in the afternoons. Pike anglers are having success in shallow weedy areas using large suckers on tip ups. Most of the action is mid day. Crappie anglers are finding fish off of points as fish are staging to move into the basins. Small jigs and plastics suspended about 6 ft off the bottom are taking some nice fish. Anglers should remember to put back most of the fish and take only those needed for a nice meal. Weather indications is for mild temps up to Christmas so be careful and have fun.

Merry Christmas
