Let's Go Fishing!

A photo taken from above of two people sitting at the end of a wooden pier fishing.

Find your adventure this spring and go fishing in Wisconsin. The season officially opens May 1, and it's time to get back on the water.

Wisconsin's array of lakes, streams and rivers, easy fishing access, opportunities for action and the potential for large fish make it one of the top fishing destinations in the nation.

Where Should I Go Fishing?

With roughly 15,000 lakes and over 84,000 miles of rivers and streams, there is no shortage of places to fish.

Not sure where to start?

Check out our Boat And Shore Fishing Access Tool for a list of 2,000 public boat access points across Wisconsin, along with over 100 developed shore fishing sites.

If you're on a quest this summer to catch the fish of 10,000 casts, find a list of great fishing spots for muskies, including a list of trophy musky waters.

Head out with the family and enjoy some of the best waters for fishing with kids.

There are a number of areas around Wisconsin that offer excellent shore-fishing opportunities for people with disabilities. Throughout the state, accessible fishing piers are designed to accommodate wheelchairs, are wider to offer enough room for turning around and have lower railings and rod holders so that anglers can cast out and fish. Find an accessible pier in your part of the state.

Fish The Great Lakes

Lake Michigan, or the big pond as many Wisconsinites know it, is the most frequently visited water in Wisconsin and it's easy to see why. Whether by boat or onshore, a fishing pole will bring you some of the state's best and most diverse fishing, not to mention picturesque views.

And with millions of fish stocked annually to keep populations healthy, there's a good chance there will be a bite on your line.

Get the latest on what's biting and where in the Lake Michigan Fishing Report.

Find a Lake Michigan Tributary to fish.

Lake Superior offers options for fishing year round as well. Learn more about fishing Lake Superior, what you can expect to catch throughout the year and where, and get tips for the best method to catch those fish in our Lake Superior Fishing Calendar.

Interested In Trout Fishing?

Wisconsin boasts over 13,000 miles of trout streams; deciding on just one place to fish can be daunting.

The Trout Regulations & Opportunities User Tool (TROUT) was designed to help trout anglers find places to fish, getting them out on the water faster. TROUT includes trout fishing regulations, classified trout water, public land and DNR fishing easements.
