Lake Superior Lake Trout Regulation Options - What do you think?
The Department of Natural Resources' Fisheries Management program would like your opinion on lake trout regulation options for sport anglers for the 2018 season. Your opinion, along with others, will help biologists make recommendations for a regulation that will stay within the quota and likely allow angling opportunities throughout the season.
The regulation option picked for the 2018 season will be used to develop a permanent rule that will be used for the foreseeable future. Each regulation option has an associated risk of exceeding the quota. As with previous emergency rules, if the quota is reached prior to the end of the season (currently September 30th) the season would need to be closed and fishing for lake trout would be prohibited.
