Interested in improving your wildlife habitat and hunting experiences?

Enroll in DMAP to improve wildlife habitat and hunting experiences on the property you own or hunt!

Healthy habitat is the key to sustainable wildlife populations, and the Deer Management Assistance Program provides habitat management resources for a wide variety of species and outcomes on properties of any size. The benefits available through DMAP have been turning landowners into land stewards and improving wildlife habitat across Wisconsin since 2014. Through the program, landowners can access:

  • Hands-on, in-person workshops
  • Consultation with professional wildlife biologists
  • Site visits and property-specific management plans
  • DMAP's online resource library

With three levels of enrollment, DMAP has the flexibility to meet the wildlife and habitat needs of each unique property.

Properties of any size are eligible to enroll or form a group cooperative with like-minded neighbors to share resources and improve wildlife habitat over a larger area. Applications are accepted at any time, but landowners with properties 160 acres or larger (Level 2 or 3) are encouraged to apply before March 1 to be eligible for a site visit by a wildlife biologist and forester and a property-specific management plan in 2020.

To learn more about DMAP and apply, visit dnr.wi.gov, keyword “DMAP.”

Don’t own land but interested in enhancing land you hunt? Ask the landowner about enrolling in DMAP and have them designate you as a representative for the property.
