Ice Anglers: Ice Shanty Removal Deadlines Coming Soon
ATTENTION ICE ANGLERS:
All permanent ice shanties must be removed from all state waters by the designated removal dates. Anglers may still use portable ice shanties, but they must remove them at the end of each day.
Here are the upcoming deadlines:
- Inland waters south of Highway 64 after the first Sunday following March 1
- Lake Michigan, Green Bay, Lake Superior and inland waters north of Highway 64 after the first Sunday following March 12
- Wisconsin – Michigan boundary waters by March 15
It's important to remember that no ice is 100% safe, particularly late-season ice, so take proper ice safety precautions. The DNR does not monitor ice conditions, so anglers should check with local fishing clubs and bait shops for current ice conditions.
