Fishing Report for Washburn County
1/6/2016- Reported by Jim Stroede Guide Service
Ice fishing is in full swing here in Washburn County. Ice thickness varies from lake to lake, however, the places I've been out on had 5 1/2 inches of good ice over this past weekend. Generally walk out access is good in most places, ATV or driving trucks out onto the ice is not advised as of yet.
Good luck and good fishing,
Jim Stroede
1/6/2016- Reported by Stone Lake Bait & Tackle
We are seeing a good average of 5-6 inches of ice on lakes in the Stone Lake area. There have been more sightings of ATV's on the ice albeit they are hugging the shoreline in most cases. Walleye and pike have been hitting suckers and shiners in 7-10 feet of water under tip-ups.. We don't really have a current report on the crappie and/or bluegill bite. If we don't get too much snow in the next few days the frigid temps in our future should add several inches to the ice we already have. Be smart. Stay safe.
1/6/2016- Reported by Long Lake Bait, Tackle & C-Store
Ice conditions on Long Lake and smaller area lakes reports coming in at anywhere from 2" - 4" with an occasional 5". Conditions are very unstable due to varying temperatures and current whitefish activity. Extreme Caution and Safety Measures are recommended! Nice Walleye and Northern are being caught both jigging and with tip-ups using suckers and shiners at about 20'. Some Blue Gill Activity with Crappie being a bit on the slow side.
We have a full line of live bait in stock with some nice suckers and shiners! Just got in the Hot new Impulse Helium Stonefly Jigs! Open 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday, Sunday's 7 a.m. - 3 p.m., Closed on Mondays. Happy Fishing!
