Dave Duwe Lake Geneva Fishing Report 9/29/14 through 10/6/14

Even though this should be some of the best times to fish Lake Geneva, the water temperatures have not been consistent enough to get the fish in their normal early fall patterns.  The fishing has been overall very slow.

Smallmouth bass action has been very difficult.   I’ve been working the fish in the 20-25 foot depth range.  Most of the success is coming off of large fat head minnows or nightcrawlers fished on a lindy rig.  The best location has been by Gage Marine or just west of Conference Point.

Largemouth bass fishing has been best in the 12-14 foot depth range.  Look for the fish in Williams Bay or in Trinkes Bay.  They are either hitting medium diving crank baits on split shot rigged nightcrawlers.  The overall action has been on the slow side.

Bluegill fishing has been above average.  The fish are located in 16-20 ft of water.  The best location has been by Elgin Club or by Gage Marine.  The best approach is straight lining full nightcrawlers or large Dilly Worms straight beneath the boat.

Walleye fishing has been all right.  You want to fish at night trolling large Rapalas.  Williams Bay and Trinkes bay are producing most of the action.  The best depth is 15-20 ft of water.  Having some wind while trying for them helps a lot.

Good luck and I hope to see you on the water.  For guide parties, please call Dave Duwe at 608-883-2050
