Dave Duwe Lake Geneva 8/4/14 through 8/11/14

Fishing on Lake Geneva continues to be very good.  The one key to Lake Geneva is that the water is slowly warming and the thermocline is starting to form, which is adding a the deep water bite.

Smallmouth bass are schooled in 20-25 ft of water.  Look for the fish by Fontana Beach or by Gage marine.  They can be caught using either a drop shot rig or a lindy rigged nightcrawler or yellow perch.  Most of the fish can be seen on your graph.  I don’t personally start fishing until I see a school of fish.

Largemouth bass are being caught either in the deep water structure on the hard bottom or around the boat docks.  The fish around the boat docks are being caught on Wacky rigged Senkos in green pumpkin color.  The deep water fish are being caught on lindy rigged nightcrawlers.  Look for the fish by Trinkes or by Fontana Beach.

Walleye fishing has been improving with the warmer water.  The only time to fish for them is at night.  You want to use the large Rapalas trolled 100 ft back behind the planer board.  Look for the fish by Abbey Springs or by Trinkes and Fontana Beach.

Bluegill fishing has been fantastic.  The fish are 15-25 ft of water.  The best location has been by the Elgin Club or by Gage Marine.  You want to fish leaf worms straight beneath the boat about 6 inches off bottom.

Rock bass fishing has been average.  The biggest concentration of fish has been positioned with the smallmouth bass in 20-25 ft of water.  They are aggressively hitting nightcrawlers.  The best location has been by Fontana Beach or by the old Military Academy.

Good luck and I hope to see you on the water.  For guide parties, please call Dave Duwe at 608-883-2050
