Dave Duwe Delavan Lake Fishing Report 9/9/07 through 9/16/07

The cooler water has decreased the boat traffic on the water, unfortunately it seems to have made the bite decrease as well.  There isn’t a whole lot of consistent bites right now.

The northern pike are still probably the best bet.  They can be caught on the weedlines in 8-105 ft of water.  Look for the pike to be about 4 ft down.  The best approach is slip-bobber rigged suckers.   The best location has been by Del Mar subdivision or by Browns Channel.

The bluegills have moved in shallow.  They are no longer on the deep weedlines.  The best depth now is 10-12 ft.  The best approach is slip bobbering leaf worms.  The best location is by the gray condo weed point or Assembly Park.

Largemouth bass have also moved shallow with the cooler water.  They are now readily available with a weightless Senko or All Terrain Stik.  The best color is green pumpkin.  The best location is by the outlet or in front of Lake Lawn Lodge.

Most of the Walleyes are being caught while trolling crank baits.  Most of the success I’ve been having is on the deep Bandit Walleye crank bait.  I’ve been using either the pearl or the perch color.  I’ve been trolling mostly the south shore from Browns Channel to the Village Point.

Good Luck and I hope to see you on the water.  For Guide parties, please call Dave Duwe at 608-883-2050
