Central Wisconsin Outdoor Report

Open water season for me has come to an end and the boat is getting cleaned up and sent down to Amherst Marine for its year-end check-up and winterization.

On Wisconsin Outdoors

It has been a phenomenal year with record numbers of fish along with some real giants as well.  This past week was no exception. We boated 18 muskies in the last 6 days along with multiple limits of northern pike and walleyes.

On Wisconsin Outdoors

Most of the muskies this past week were taken on large suckers ran on quick set rigs but we also caught several nice fish on Bulldawgs and Suicks.  We targeted 10 to 16 FOW for most of the action but were surprised to see some nice muskies still holding in shallower areas in depths less than 5 feet deep.

On Wisconsin Outdoors

The walleyes and pike were taken in a variety of locations but most of the fish were in 12 to 18 FOW and right on the bottom. We ran ¼ ounce lead head jigs tipped with large fathead minnows for our best action. Orange and chartreuse jigs seemed to out-produce any other color.

On Wisconsin Outdoors

With the year coming to an end I’d also like to take a moment to remember the great season we had with our bear hunters. We had an outstanding season with 11 of our hunters filing their tags and several others having multiple opportunities.  We had 3 bears that dressed out over 300 pounds with the largest one weighing in at 385 pounds.

On Wisconsin Outdoors

Now as we wrap things up, I am going to try to get out and do a little archery hunting and get ready for the upcoming gun deer season and all too soon ice fishing season.  Before I close out this week’s report I would like to give a special thank you to all of the people and businesses that supported me over the year. Without your help and support I would not be able to do what I do.  Thank you!

Have a great week,
