Central Wisconsin Outdoor Report

This week has brought much cooler temperatures to the central Wisconsin area.  With that the water temperatures have dropped to the lower 60’s and the leaves have finally started to turn to their fall colors.  Fishing this past week has been exceptional with anglers having good luck with all species.  Bear season is still under way with about a week and a half remaining as is archery season for whitetail deer which has basically just started.  The 2016 waterfowl season has begun and hunters are starting off with a bang!

On Wisconsin Outdoors

Walleyes have been the number one target this past week and muskies have been a close second. To top off the list crappies and bass are coming in a close third.  Action has been good for all species especially the walleyes which have not only been abundant but we have been seeing some nice sized fish as well.   The musky bite has been very good with action on bucktails and jerkbaits as well as a few fish still striking top water baits.  The panfish have been holding tight to structure in deeper water this past week but with a proper presentation they are easy to catch.  For you bass guys the best technique we have right now is medium sized crankbaits and jerkbaits worked slowly over and around structure like rocks and wood.

On Wisconsin Outdoors

We had another successful week of bear hunting as Michael Narus was lucky enough to tag out on a dandy black bear that came to one of our baits. I know some of you may start becoming discouraged especially if you haven’t seen a bear yet, but with about a week and a half left there is still plenty of time to fill that tag.  We have filled tags on as late as the last day of the season!

On Wisconsin Outdoors

The 2016 water fowl season has started and hunters are taking advantage of near perfect conditions.  With plenty of water high winds and cooler temperatures the activity has been as good as I have ever seen it.  Hunters are limiting out in several areas with some very nice birds. Right now we are seeing quite a few wood ducks, mallards and a few teal, but as the season progresses the divers will start to come down.

Have a great week,
