Central Wisconsin Outdoor Report
Well after a warm couple of weeks the recent rain and accompanying cold front has dropped water temperature 10 degrees and the fish have responded accordingly. Walleyes have moved deeper and are now holding in 10 to 16 feet of water around drop-offs associated with any rock or gravel. The musky bite has been good with action on large bucktails and recently the rubber bite has picked up with Bulldawgs and Big Joes taking a lot of fish. Panfish have been very active with nice catches of crappies, perch and bluegills. But for the best bang for your buck the walleye bite has been fantastic with a lot of really nice fish in all size ranges anywhere from the 12 and 13 inchers all the way to the upper 20’s and even a few in the low 30 inch range.
Bear baiting has been proceeding as planned and the bears are responding well to some of our new baits and our new bait stations. We have seen a lot of activity both daytime and night-time at all of our stations and if it continues the way it has been our hunters are going to be in for another great season.
Have a great week,
Phil Schweik
