Central Wisconsin Outdoor Report

Fishing in the central Wisconsin area remains very good on most area lakes and rivers.  Topping the list this past week has been the walleye fishing with good numbers of fish being caught.  A lot of the action is coming during low light periods and after dark. Casting rattling crankbaits in shallow water has been working best for us especially after dark.

On Wisconsin Outdoors

The musky bite has been fair to good with the best action early in the day and again late in the evening.  Top water baits are working very well right now as are large bladed bucktails when burned over weed tops.

On Wisconsin Outdoors

We have been picking up some really nice crappies and bluegills by vertically jigging a small 1/16th ounce jig that has been tipped with a piece of crawler. These fish are holding tight to cover so may lose a few jigs while trying to catch them, but don’t be afraid to go in after them.  Losing a few jigs is better than not catching any fish!

On Wisconsin Outdoors

Bear baiting has been going well and with the amount of activity we are seeing it looks like it is going to be a very good season for our hunters.  All of our baits are being regularly hit by multiple bears. Our trail cameras are out and we should be seeing photos coming in very soon.

Have a great week,
