Hunters' Donations of Venison = 11 Million Meals

Annually, hunters generously donate enough game meat to provide 11 million meals to people in need. The venison donations provide a valuable source of protein that food banks and shelters cannot afford to purchase. NSSF provides a video on how venison donations are made to charitable food organizations and an infographic detailing the benefits of hunters sharing their harvests. NSSF's Share The Harvest website includes information on how to make a donation.

Government Relations

  • DEMOCRATS COMPETE TO LOOK MORE ANTI-GUN . . . First, Hillary Clinton told presidential primary voters she was more anti-gun than Sen. Bernie Sanders. Not to be outdone, former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley stole the tactic for his commercialattacking Clinton, which aired as Beretta USA was turning on machinery relocated from its long-time Maryland facility to its new Tennessee plant. Beretta told O'Malley it would move operations due to the highly restrictive gun control measures he championed. Maryland lost jobs. Public safety was not enhanced.
  • 'TRAFFICKING' OR 'DIVERSION', IT'S A CRIME . . . Knowingly transferring a firearm to prohibited individuals and providing false statements on ATF Form 4473 are federal crimes. But one might conclude no such laws exist if you listen to politicians advocating a new law against "trafficking." But ATF uses the term "diversion," a broader term encompassing movement of firearms from the legal to the illegal marketplace. It's the politics of misinforming or under-informing the public, for the political advantage of appearing to do something.
  • STATE ROUND-UP . . . Texas voters overwhelmingly approved a constitutional amendment guaranteeing the right to hunt and fish for future generations of sportsmen. The New Jersey State Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee today held a hearing on SB3416, to further prohibit the possession, transport, import, sale or shipment of certain animal species (trophies). The Wisconsin Assembly and Senate will consider bills that will allow parents to decide when their children can begin hunting under the supervision of a mentor.
