Finally, nicer weather, iceberg's floating in and out of Chequamegon Bay in the Lake Superior country of Bayfield County, still some small patches of snow in the ravines, the smell of Spring and serous thoughts of bears in the air. First load of bear bait was delivered. UPS was on time with my order of Bear Scents inventory and the necessary equipment for this year hunt was delivered. My lead Guide Robert Haas and I did some bear scouting on recently acquired private property, mostly Ag land that borders one of the biggest swamps in Wisconsin. Never have I seen so much bear sign. Hung our first tree stand, dug the bait pit… only 30 more to go. I am starting to get into the bear mode. I dream of bears, wake up early, can’t sleep. Constantly thinking and re-thinking what needs to be done. My wife even says after a long day of scouting, bugs and sweating that I even smell like a bear "ick". Looking forward to taking you all along on this 2014 bear adventure. Good hunting.
