Ashland County Smelt Report

Ashland County Smelt Report, April 18

Area Smelters in Ashland report, Smelting has been great the past two nights. Predictions are: Smelting may be near peak right now or the next few nights but it is a Mother Nature call so it is uncertain how long they will run. The Ashland Chamber of Commerce does have a Smelt hotline to call at 800-284-9484 or check out their website at www.visitashland.com for updates on Smelting.

Ashland is receiving some rain this week which is good for the Streams. The rain will give a push of Steelheads up the Streams.

Area Smelters in Ashland report, Smelting was a bit scattered last night. There were buckets of Smelt pulled in, but on and off throughout the night. Predictions are: Smelting may be near peak right now or the next few nights but it is a Mother Nature call so it is uncertain how long they will run. Anglers trolling the Bay have been doing good using stick baits and catching a lot of nice Browns and Coho’s.

Smelt Report, April 20

The local bait shop and area smelters report the Smelt are still here! Sometimes there are Smelt in the nets and sometimes not! It is Scattered times throughout the evening but they are still pulling them in. It’s a Mother Nature Call so it’s uncertain how long the run will last. We will continue to keep you posted.
