Ashland County Ice Fishing Report

January 8, 2019
Carolyn from Anglers All reports:  People are ice fishing the S-Curve and Bono Creek but keep in mind to check your way. They are walking on the Ashland side of the Bay with reports of 8 to 14 inches of ice in areas. The ice depth is not consistent and you need to check your way. On the Washburn side of the Bay people are walking and fishing from Bono Creek to Memorial Park where there is 2-5 inches of ice reported off the Washburn Coal Dock with rather precarious conditions! Call us at Anglers All and we will give you an update on what we are hearing about the ice condition. We advise you to spud your way. Be smart, call ahead. Know the area you are ice fishing. Bring your ice bar and safety equipment including flotation equipment at all times. Hopefully, the weather will continue to make ice. There are people fishing the Inland Lakes in both Ashland and Bayfield County and they are catching fish!  Check for safe ice at all times!!! Be cautious.

River Rock reports: Anglers are walking out on the Ashland side of the Bay with reports of 10-12 inches in spots. However, you need to check your own ice as you go. We have had strong wind so be cautious. There are people walking out on the S-Curve and catching some nice Browns, Splake and Cohos. The Washburn and Bayfield side of the Bay does not have good ice right now.  The Inlands have fish able ice on the smaller lakes and there have been reports of a good mix of fish being caught including some nice Walleyes and Northerns being caught. Congratulations to the Ashland High School Ice Fishing Team on winning the 1st Annual Ice fishing contest sponsored by River Rock and Bait Rigs.
