Ashland County Fishing Report

May 25, 2017

Carolyn from Anglers All reports:

Spring fishing is proving to be really good on Chequamegon Bay!!! Reports are coming in that fishing has been great!

Small Mouth bass are still in pre-spawn and spawn mode, with some beds being made. The East end of the Bay is the primary spawning ground. Target 5feet of water or less using flies or light jigs rigged with plastics.

Northerns are becoming more active in the shallows as the water warms. Soaking smelt or casting spoons has been very productive.

Walleye fishing has started to pick up during low light hours, drifting crawler harnesses over the weed beds.

Reports are still coming in that the Trout and Salmon fishing continues to be really good right now in the Bay all the way out to the Islands, trolling stick baits in the shallower water or look for the mud lines!

The Crappie bite on the Inlands has been more active as the waters are getting warmer but they have not started bedding yet.

The forecast for the next week is showing temps in the 50’s and 60’s with a possible shower on Memorial Day and later in the week. Fishing will remain great in the Bay!!
