Ashland Area Fishing Report for Nov. 6, 2014

~ Fishing Guide Roger LaPenter and wife Carolyn from Anglers All715/682-5754(http://www.anglersallwisconsin.com), report the following:

This report is about the Ashland side of Chequamegon Bay.  At the moment, fall fishing is good for many different species.  Smallmouth fishing continues to be solid.

Anglers are still catching walleye, some from shore during low-light hours, and “really picking up a little bit of everything,” noted Carolyn LaPenter. “Not everybody has put their boat away yet,” she said, “so there are still a few people getting out on the water.”

However, the “water temperatures are starting to drop now” and there have been people in the shop who are “already gearing up for ice fishing,” she added.

The Coho salmon are around off and on in the streams and at the mouths of rivers.  Some days seem better than others, but they're showing up and will continue to do so as fall progresses.

Trolling has been good between Houghton Point to the Onion River and near Long Island.  Flat-lining and planer boards with stickbaits are the way to go, according to Luke Kavajecz, fishing guide at Anglers All.

For the most complete and up-to-date fishing report, just give them a call at Anglers All and they will keep you informed!

~ The Ashland Area Chamber of Commercewww.visitashland.com1-800-284-9484, reports:

Fishing is always a thrilling adventure in the Ashland area!  Chequamegon Bay is famous for its world-class smallmouth bass fishing.

The 3rd annual Chick-uamegon, a lighthearted women’s 5K/10K walk/run, offers terrific prizes and cute awards. Where else can you see happy, smiling runners wearing pastel-colored tutus, glitter face paint, pink wigs and butterfly wings?

Chick-uamegon participants are advised to come dressed to win in their most “bling” attire for this exciting and colorful event set for Saturday, Nov. 8. Finishers each receive a tiara and medal, plus there will be prizes for the top three participants wearing the most outlandish “bling” outfits imaginable.

The 5K and 10K run/walk steps off at 11 a.m. at Ashland’s Lake Superior Elementary School. And after the races, don’t miss the annual Garland City Women’s Expo, held inside Lake Superior Elementary School, 1101 Binsfield Rd., adjacent to the race start line. Lasting from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., the expo features shopping, pampering, plenty of food and oodles of fun, along with free admission and door prizes.
