Ashland Area Fishing Report for Dec. 4, 2014
~ Fishing Guide Roger LaPenter and wife Carolyn from Anglers All, 715/682-5754 (http://www.anglersallwisconsin.com), report the following:
This report is about the Ashland side of Chequamegon Bay. Ice fishing season has begun! Carolyn LaPenter reports that anglers were out on the ice over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. They were catching perch, walleye and a few trout, she said, going out from Second Landing and the Clarkson coal dock.
Although there were reports of 6-8 inches of ice in some spots off the Ashland shore earlier in the week, there is still open water over in Washburn. As always, conditions can change rapidly on Lake Superior. For your own safety and especially if you are unfamiliar with the area you will be fishing, hire a local guide or check with a bait shop prior to venturing out on any ice.
Carolyn strongly urges anglers to be cautious, bring an ice bar and check their way as they go. For the most complete and up-to-date fishing report, just give them a call at Anglers All and they will gladly keep you informed!
