ATTEND THE DEDICATION CEREMONY AND GRAND REOPENING OF THE NEWLY IMPROVED TRAIL SYSTEM AT TREES FOR TOMORROW
EAGLE RIVER, Wis. – Trees For Tomorrow (TFT), an accredited natural resources specialty school in Eagle River, WI invites you to join us for the grand reopening of our revitalized trail system at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28. The grand reopening will take place during TFT’s 8th annual Forest Fest. Visitors will have an opportunity to tour the trail.
TFT’s trail revitalization project was made possible through the generosity of the Society of American Foresters and Lumberjack RC&D. The revitalization project includes a new boardwalk over the wetlands area on the Wildlife Loop, reconstruction of the river outlook on the Forest Trail, a new trailhead kiosk, new culverts to help with water drainage from the forest to Eagle River, improved wayfinding signage, and the removal of dead and fallen trees to improve ease of access for visitors.
“We will continue to make upgrades to our trail system throughout the summer to accomplish all of the goals of the project,” said Robin Ginner, TFT Executive Director. “Our trail system is the only Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest trail system within the city limits of Eagle River, and we want more people to get outside and enjoy it.”
The project began on May 14 with volunteers clearing brush and preparing the site for improvements. The boardwalk was completed in time for the dedication at Forest Fest on July 28.
“If you haven’t been to Forest Fest before, I highly encourage you to make the trip to town for the best fest in the Midwest,” Ginner said. “Forest Fest has been going for eight years strong, and gets better every summer.”
Forest Fest is a free family fun day that takes place July 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Trees For Tomorrow’s campus in the heart of Eagle River. Visitors will learn about the ecology of our forests, see how modern forestry practices help to sustain them with equipment demos, tour an interactive native village, take a horse-drawn wagon ride, fish for live trout, meet the forest’s spokesperson Smokey Bear and more.
