A Hard-To-Beat Day on the Hardwater
Sunday January 12th was a truly special day. I haven't dusted off my ice fishing gear in over four years but felt that is was time again. I was looking forward to getting my daughters out on the ice for their first trip and a chance to use the tip-ups they received from Grandpa as Christmas gifts. We stayed close to home in Waukesha County and had an awesome day. My oldest daughter Lydia was able to take a flag on her tip-up (which is engraved Lydia and Grandpa 2007.) On that tip-up she landed her first pike through the ice and was SOO excited. The action was very fast and the ice was very slippery which led the kids to tire out quickly so my wife Becca took Cortney and Lydia home after we had a quick lunch. From lunch time on the big pike moved in and the action stayed fast. By the end of the day we had 5 pike of 30" or more with the largest being a 33" 9.5lb beast. I also landed a 25 1/2'' walleye that tipped the scales at 7 1/4lb. With a mixture of perch and Crappies thrown in this probably ranks as the best day I have ever spent ice fishing. It was awesome to share with my family and friends. Also fishing were Randy Rydzik, Art Rydzik, Craig Roffers, Brian Roffers and Becca Olsson Antler King Trophy Products Pro-Staffer |
