12/31/14 - Reported by AAA Sports Shop
It was a great long weekend for fishing, Christmas Day we have several nice fish come in to register for the contest, Friday was outstanding, we actually ran out of minnows and had to get more. Northern on Spooner, walleyes on Shell Lake, crappies on Dunn and Lipsie. Using shiners for the large fish. Still using waxies for the pan fish and crappies. Jigging minnows by Rapala have been hot and also flirty girty jigs in purple and red. We have a new supply of Tungsten in 3 sizes, 5 colors. We have 2 shacks for rent, with heat....stay warm
12/30/14- Reported by Long Lake Bait & Tackle
The fishing has picked up on Long Lake from last week. Folks are catching some really nice Walleye & Northern in about 15'-20' mostly on Tip-ups with using Walleye Suckers and Medium to Large Shiners mostly after 3 p.m. Lot's of smaller Bluegill during the day (mixed with an occasional nice sized one) and 12"+ Crappie biting after 6 p.m. using Waxies and Crappie Minnows. They seem to be sitting at about 10'-12'.
Ice conditions on the lake: The snowmobile trail was staked on the lake on Saturday. Ice estimates on the North end were 6"-8" (Winnebago point reporting in at 4" and South End estimates coming in anywhere from 7"-12". At the time there was approximately 2"-3" of slush on top of that making ATV & Snowmobile travel difficult. Then we received 6" of snow to make slush conditions even worse 6"-8". Hopefully with this cold snap we can re-freeze some of the slush on top of the ice that we had.
