12-6-13 Ashland Area Fishing Report

~ Fishing Guide Roger LaPenter from Anglers All, (715)-682-5754, http://www.anglersallwisconsin.com Reports: This time of year is a waiting game for the ice to freeze over and be safe enough to ice fish. There have been a few anglers ice fishing on the Inland Lakes but the new snow cover has made travel on the ice tough and conditions slushy.  Chequamegon Bay is not ready for ice fishing at this time! For a safe, current ice fishing report give us a call at Anglers All and we will keep you informed. In the mean time, check over your ice fishing gear and be prepared for the upcoming exciting season, always keeping safety in mind first!

~Fishing Guide Nate Baron from Up North Guide Service and Fishing Guide Scott Bretting from River Rock Inn and Bait Shop, 715-682-3232 http://riverrockinn.net Reports: A lot of disappointed hunters have been hitting the ice on Inland Lakes this past week. The recent snowfall has made traveling on the ice a little more difficult. There is 3-6" of ice on the Inland Lakes. Proceed with extreme caution now with the new snow cover. Anglers have been having some success jigging for crappies and Bluegills. Northern Pike fishing with Tip-ups has also been good. Walleye fishing with tip-ups during the low light periods has been fair to good.  Chequamegon Bay has opened back up with the strong Northeast winds blowing through the evening and the day after the big snow. The ice conditions have changed a lot over night. The line of ice now stretches from the Ashland Marina Northwest with the balance of the bay wide open. The head of the bay is locked in solid. The next cold snap should make some real good ice on the bay with the majority of it being new ice. It's a waiting game now for Chequamegon Bay and can't come soon enough. Remember, safety comes first. No fish is worth your life or risking the lives of others. Tight lines and good luck on the Ice!
