12-10-13 Ashland Area Fishing Report

~ Fishing Guide Roger LaPenter from Anglers All, (715)-682-5754, http://www.anglersallwisconsin.com Reports: This report is strictly about the Ashland side of the Bay. People are walking out from shore to ice fish. They are checking their way with a spud. As of this writing there is 6inches of ice with very little snow cover. The Inland Lakes in Ashland County have had decent Crappie fishing. Keep in mind the Inlands are snow covered and slushy. For a safe, current ice fishing report give us a call at Anglers All and we will keep you informed. In the mean time, check over your ice fishing gear and be prepared for the upcoming exciting season, always keeping safety in mind first! Mark your calendars for January 18th and 19th for Wisconsin free fishing weekend!

~Fishing Guide Nate Baron from Up North Guide Service and Fishing Guide Scott Bretting from River Rock Inn and Bait Shop, 715-682-3232 http://riverrockinn.net Reports: Chequamegon Bay started forming ice just after the last Snowstorm. Anglers were out this past weekend with reports of 5" or more of ice in some locations. The Ashland shoreline has the best ice right now. Anglers fishing in the Bay were picking up a mixed bag of Whitefish, Browns and Perch on a Jig and a Minnow in 20 FOW. The head of the Bay has been locked in solid with ice just prior to the last Storm. The mouth of Bonos Creek has 2-2 1/2" of ice and varies significantly as of today. Expect quite a few anglers to get out this coming weekend with warmer temperatures in the forecast. The Inland Lakes took a turn for the worse with the recent heavy snowfalls. A lot of slush under the snow is being reported on many area Lakes making travel and safety an issue. Check ice constantly, good luck and have a safe weekend. Tight lines to all !

~ The Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce, visitashland.com 800-284-9484 reports: If you would like an updated ice fishing report or an updated snowmobile report, check out www.visitashland.com . Fish anywhere in Wisconsin without a license or trout stamp on Free Fishing Weekend, January 18th and 19th. This includes all inland waters and Wisconsin's side of the Great Lakes and Mississippi River. Other fishing rules apply, such as limits on the number and size of fish you can keep and any seasons when you must release certain fish species. So, pack up the family or call your friends and head to the water for fishing fun!
