Price County Fishing Report
It was looking like we would be on the ice for deer season for the first time in many years but warm temps and heavy rain cleared the local lakes of ice. We did have a couple of Ice Fishermen early last week as some of the bays on some local lakes were froze up for a few days and had about 3" of ice on them. The anglers headed out for walleye are doing good with some fishermen catching some really nice fish. Larger Plastics, Walleye Suckers and Northern Suckers are taking some of the bigger fish. Walleye are in their late fall pattern and holding in deep water or below damns or other deeper water close to high current areas in our river systems. Area Dams are a great place to fish the late open water season because they offer fishing from shore as many anglers have put their boats away for the season. Musky are still feeding, with the cold water temps the fish have slowed down. Slow moving lures that hang in the strike zone or Live bait has been working well. Feeding windows are short but when they do feed it's possible to put multiple fish in the boat very quickly. Pictured is me with a musky that I caught looking for new water to fish after the lakes I was fishing froze over. It's a cell phone picture, sorry about the quality, I forgot my camera that day!!!!
