10/20/14 Price County Fishing Report
It was a good week of Fall Fishing in the Phillips area this week as reports of good Crappie and Walleye action poured in. Musky action was also good, Water temps are in the mid to upper 40's on most area lakes and the fish are starting to move deep and put the feed bag on.
Ross's Sport Shop Guide Boats have been finding Walleye and Crappies in the Basin areas of most area lakes. The Basin is the main deep water lake areas, Lakes like Duroy and Cranberry have one simple main basin area where other lakes like Long and Soo have a more complex structure with multiple basin areas. As the water drops into the 40's look for fish to move on to the drop-offs into these basin areas. Look for inside turns or underwater points to hold more fish then other areas of the basin. We have been catching Walleye in these areas on Bottom Feeder Tackle Jigheads tipped with an extra large fathead minnow. I have also been doing well on Thumper Jigs with Y.U.M walleye grubs. We are catching Crappie on a verity of lures including twisters, tubes, and other plastics along with a jig and minnow.
There are a lot of musky visiting the Ross's Sport Shop Guide Boats as well, Clients have been boating fish using large Grandma's, Jakes, Rubber and Suckers. Pictured is Matt Capelle who fished with me on Sunday and boated this heavy 42 incher on a sucker. We snapped a quick picture and Matt happily released the fish back into the water.

Every society depends on trust and loyalty, on courtesy and kindness, on bravery and reverence. These are the values of Scouting, and these are the values of Americans.”
