Price County Fishing Report 1-29-2013
After last week’s frigid temps ice thickness has really increased. The snow we had last weekend will help with foot travel BUT we now have freezing rain and warm temps which may cause some slush to develop. The weather is predicted to get very cold by the end of the week. Ice travel by vehicle or foot should be good as everything should freeze.
Some nice northerns were taken this past week. Some anglers had good success fishing the 8-10ft breaks off weed gravel using large suckers. These fish seem to be feeding around schools of perch.
Walleye action was slow with few fish coming both early and late in the day. A few fish were caught jigging larger spoons tipped with minnows.
Crappies were in the deep basins and feeding close to the bottom in 20+ feet of water, the Sno-gypsies snowmobile club will be hosting the fisheree on Butternut Lake this Saturday. Contact Northern Pines Resort for ticket information.
Good Luck Fishing
