Big Green Lake Fishing Report 2-7-13

BIG GREEN LAKE UPDATE; The Big snow storm has come and is now gone. We got 8 to 10 inches of snow on top of 5 to 6 inches of ice. It was all wet enough to soak up most of the snow. So now with the real cold weather we are now having everything is freezing up. We now have very good ice conditions. This weekend will be fine for getting on the lake. Travel by walking, snowmobiles, or ATVs should be fine. But you do need to know the conditions where you intend to go. It is best ask someone who knows about conditions. I would not go past Sandstone Pt. and the real deep water to the west at this time. You still have to be very careful when going on Big Green.

FISHING REPORT; They have been fishing in the deep water since last week. With some real good results. See Ellis Blogs 2-7-2013 on this website.
LAKE TROUT; The Trout bite has been real good off Horner's Landing. Most of the fish came from the deeper water in120feet plus. There has not been a lot of activity on the lake since the weather change. It will be real good again when things settle down a bit. Most fish have been coming off jigs and cutbait in the deeper water. The east end has been producing some Lake Trout in the shallow water 40 to 80 feet fished the same way.
CISCO; The Cisco bite has been real good up by Sandstone Pt. Best setup has been small jigs fished in the schools early in the morning. The ice up that way is only 3 to 5 inches so you have to be real careful going up that way; just stay close to shore. Also there have been some good reports of Lake Trout coming from that area.
