Big Brown Warms Cold Day

Big Brown caught at Milwaukee HarborWhat a difference a few weeks make.  Tony Maniaci sent us a photo of a big brown taken from the Milwaukee Harbor by his buddy Ryan Kaltenbach March 3.  Not only is the fish awesome, the weather contrast is stark as we post the story on March 22.

Kaltenbach and his fishing partner Todd Patke were throwing body baits behind the Marcus Amphitheatre with no luck for the first hour, Maniaci said. “Ryan switched to a blue and silver KO Wobbler. On his first cast he hooked into a large Brown.”

After several minutes and a few missed net attempts, they landed the female full of spawn.  She weighed in at 25 pounds and 38-inches with a 25 inch girth.

“Although the fish was not a line class record I told Ryan it was the catch of a lifetime and he should have it mounted,” Maniachi said.  “As we speak it’s at the taxidermist to the tune of $12.00 per inch.  Yikes! That’s a trophy.”
