Fishing at Lake Wingra at Wingra Park:

This three-session class for adults begins on Zoom and will prepare you for ice fishing with members of the UW-Madison Ice Fishing Club and Team. We’ll wrap up our in-person ice fishing outing with a demo of how to clean your catch of the day. On Zoom, you’ll learn about Wisconsin’s diverse fisheries, ice fishing gear, where to find fish and how to prepare your catch for the table. All gear and supplies are provided. COVID-19 precautions will be in order. Instructors will wear masks when closer than 6 feet to participants.
Fishing licenses can be waived for people who have fewer than two years of fishing experience and attend both virtual sessions. Participants opting for the waiver must obtain a DNR Customer Identification number and include it on the registration form. Call 1-888-936-7463 for the number or visit the DNR’s Customer ID webpage.
Register with the DNR by Feb. 8, 2022
We’re kind of old fashioned about registration – mail or walk it in, addresses are on the form. Space is limited to 20 adult anglers. Once we have your registration, Theresa Stabo or TJ Wendel will send you the Zoom link and more information. Let us know if you have trouble with the form.
Cost: $0. However, we ask for a $15 refundable commitment deposit to reserve your spot. This will be returned to you after the first session.
