Chequamegon Bay Area Fishing Report, February 7, 2017

Angler's All, 715-682-5754, Call Anglers All Bait Shop for an update on the ice before heading out! Anglers have been fishing the Bay and catching a gambit of fish including Browns, White Fish, Smelt, Perch, Northerns and Strugeons, using a mixed variety of bait!!! Angler’s All cautions Angler on pressure cracks on the Bay! Take and ice bar with you and check your way before going over any cracks. There have been some nice Lake Trout and White Fish being caught on the Ashland side of the Bay. Be extra careful with the fresh snow that has fallen. Before venturing out call the Bait Shop for an updated report on the ice.
River Rock Bait Shop, 715-682-3232, is reporting there have been a lot of Smelt being caught by the Lighthouse which is good for the rest of the fish population. There have also been Coho’s, Splake, and Walleye being caught in the area of the Light House. However, use extreme caution as there is a strong current close to the Light House so stay at least 1/4 mile away! There have been some nice Perch and Walleye being caught at Second Landing. Lake Shiners have been the most popular bait! There also has been a lot of activity in front of the Coal Dock. Use caution and call River Rock ahead before you venture out!!!!!
