Ashland Fishing report, May 16, 2017

Carolyn from Anglers All reports:

Spring fishing is heating up on Chequamegon Bay!!! Reports are coming in that fishing has been great!

Small Mouth bass are in pre-spawn mode, with a few beds being made. The East end of the Bay is the primary spawning ground. Target 5feet of water or less using flies or light jigs rigged with plastics.

Northerns are becoming more active in the shallows as the water warms. Soaking smelt or casting spoons has been very productive.

Walleye fishing has started to pick up during low light hours, drifting crawler harnesses over the weed beds.

Trout and salmon fishing remains good in the Bay all the way out to the Islands, trolling stick baits in the shallower water or look for the mud lines!

The Crappie bite on the Inlands has been more active as the waters are getting warmer.
