Central Wisconsin Trout Unlimited Announces Fly Tying Classes

Central Wisconsin Trout Unlimited will offer two fly tying classes this fall to the public. Fly tying is the art of producing an artificial fly with manmade or natural materials and tying them to a hook to catch fish.

The first, Fly Tying – A New Experience, is geared toward beginners and will help new tyers learn how to tie fishing flies for different types of fish. It will be held on Tuesdays Oct. 5-26 from 6-8:30 p.m. upstairs at the Fin ‘N’ Feather, 22 W. Main St., Winneconne. Cost is $25 per person. Vises and tools are available for use during class time, although it is helpful for participants to have their own equipment to practice between classes.

The second class, Beyond the Woolly Bugger, will be held Thursdays Sept. 23-30 and Oct. 7-14 from 6-9 p.m. at the same location. Cost is $30 per person. Fly Tying – A New Experience or equivalent is a pre-requisite. Participants should also have a thorough knowledge of tying tools, fundamental tying skills and a general understanding of fly tying recipe, as well as their own tying equipment. Materials for each pattern will be furnished. Class size is limited to 15.

Both classes consist of large group instruction and small group practice for more individualized learning.

Courses are open to all ages, although those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

For more information, or to register, please contact David Pable at 920-233-2939 or email him at dandgp@sbcglobal.net.
