U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan Named SHOT Business Magazine's Person of the Year

NSSF Press Release

April 16, 2013

NEWTOWN, Conn. -- SHOT Business magazine, the trade magazine for the shooting, hunting and firearms industry, has named U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) as its 2012 SHOT Business Person of the Year.

Mitt Romney's selection of Ryan as his vice presidential running mate was widely supported by hunters and recreational shooters. A former co-chair of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus and an avid outdoorsman, Ryan has worked on behalf of sportsmen and wildlife throughout his tenure in Congress. His ongoing and future efforts will continue to play an important role in preserving America's hunting, shooting and conservation heritage.

"When it comes to hunting, shooting and Second Amendment policy, there is no substitute for the knowledge and wisdom born of personal experience and passion. For this reason, we've chosen Paul Ryan for SHOT Business Person of the Year," said Slaton L. White, editor of SHOT Business. "Many politicians pay lip service to the importance of hunting and shooting but never take substantive action to demonstrate their support. Paul Ryan is an elected official who is passionate about enhancing and expanding our rights to hunt and shoot."

Ryan was presented with the award at the National Shooting Sports Foundation's (NSSF) Congressional Fly-In, being held this week in Washington. The awards were originally presented to all other recipients at the 2013 SHOT Show, held in January in Las Vegas.

The annual SHOT Business Awards acknowledge trailblazers who preserve and promote America's hunting and shooting sports heritage. Also receiving SHOT Business Awards were Carter's Country, Retailer of the Year; Lipsey's, Distributor of the Year; Todd Binsfeld, of Birchwood Casey, Manufacturer's Representative of the Year; Duncan's Outdoor Shop, Range of the Year; Keystone Sporting Arms, Company/Organization of the Year.
