Everyday Carry

MTM Case-Gard: Handgun Concealed Carry Case

Handgun conceal carryI hate being unprepared.  Like the time I got to the range, took my target down to the 200 yard line, got my ammo out, the spotting scope, set up the camera (it was for a video review), and got everything ready to go -- then went to load my magazines and realized I had left all of my AR magazines at home.  Or the time I forgot my stapler and had no way to staple my targets up. Or the time.....well, you get the picture.  Thus, my range box is more like cargo shipping container.  It’s a converted tool chest that stands about three feet tall, and contains everything I need, or could ever need, at the range.  But sometimes, I just need to grab my handgun, some ammo, and head to the range without a lot of rigmarole.  MTM Case-Gard has the perfect solution, in the Handgun Concealed Carry Case.

The Handgun Concealed Carry Case is one of those, “it’s so simple, why didn’t I think of this,” products.  It was designed for concealed carry permit holders to transport their firearms safely and inconspicuously to and from the range.  It looks like a standard plastic .50 cal ammo can, but the inside of the cover is foam lined, as is the lift out tray.  It forms a safe, protective case for your handgun.  Ammo, hearing and eye protection and other small necessities can be carried below, just like in a standard ammo can.  Double latches prevent it from popping open, and double padlock holes ensure it stays secure.

This works well for me in instances where I don’t have the time to pull out the big range box.  With this set-up, I can toss in ammo and other gear, secure my handgun, and put it in my truck.  I head to the range, shoot, and go.  If it’s just me, I leave it unlocked, if my kids are around, I lock it.  It’s inconspicuous enough that people walking by my car aren’t going to know what it is.  For extra security, you can use a wire-type bike cable and secure it to the inside of your vehicle to prevent it from being snatched (it won’t deter a determined thief, but will prevent a quick smash & grab.

It holds two medium or one large framed semi-auto handgun, and revolvers up to a four inch barrel.  It comes in Red or Black.
