Waukesha Gun Club News - April 9, 2024

Members,

Current Leagues:

Cabin Fever Trap League: Eight weeks - 25 targets per week. We are currently in week five.

Spring 5 Stand League:  Seven weeks - 50 targets per week. We are currently in week five. The Spring 5 Stand league banquet will be on Wednesday, May 1 at 5:30 pm at the club.

3 Bird 5 Stand League: Seven weeks - 45 targets per week. We are currently in week five.

Spring Skeet League: Eight weeks - 25 targets per week. We are currently in week four.

The Summer sporting clays league is 12 weeks long and starts on May 4. Sign-up sheets are now available at the club.

Raffles: Congratulations to WGC member John Fox, the recent raffle winner of the 20 gauge camo Beretta A300. WGC is now raffling a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield Plus handgun. Tickets are $20 and there are 40 total. Thank you to Fletcher Arms for their support and supplying these firearms.

In collaboration with Pritzlaff Meats, WGC is also raffling a meat package with an estimated value of $400! More than 20lbs of meat—NY strips, t-bones, bacon, pork chops, and more! Tickets are $10 and there are 75 available. Tickets can be purchased at the club during business hours. The drawing will occur following the sale of the final ticket. Proceeds will be allocated towards the Wisconsin Open shoot. Thank you to WGC Board of Directors for organizing these raffles.

The Grid/Advanced Targets: The Grid is a custom field of traps designed to help shooters practice harder targets at their own pace, located on the field of 5 Stand House 4. The field is available on a first come first serve basis, with a one hour time limit if there are other shooters waiting. Please ask our front office staff if you need assistance with The Grid remote.

Advanced targets are being thrown out of 5 Stand House 3 for practice. Regular practice and league scores will remain available in houses 1 and 2.

Long Bird: The long bird challenge has returned! Shooters can pay $10 cash for five chances to hit the long bird target, a flying rabbit at 35+ yards! Each target hit gets one ticket into the drawing, and every Sunday (or the following depending on number of entries) one lucky winner gets to take half of the pot. A new long bird target will be featured today.

Club member Bob Duffek recently passed away. Bob was a beloved club member whose calm demeanor and friendliness left smiles on all of our faces. WGC and its members are wishing the family the best during this difficult time.

Events at your Club:

Thank you to all participants of the Southern 400 registered shoot. Thank you as well to our staff for working hard this past weekend to make it all a success. The West sporting clays course will remain set as registered targets for a couple of weeks.

Congratulations to WGC board member Eric Corbeg for winning High Overall for the combined event. Congrats to Jeff Dickey for winning HOA at Waukesha on Saturday, and to WGC member Tony Tromblay for winning runner-up. Sunday's event at Waukesha saw a four-way tie for HOA, between Eric Corbeg, Steve Greene, Blaine Behselich, and Jeff Dickey. Congrats as well to WGC member Terry Haupert for winning HOA in Class A.

WGC's next registered shoot is the Southern 200 on May 4 in collaboration with Wern Valley Sportsman's Club. We will again have $95 flats of T1 Clevers available. Registrations will be available soon.

The East Sporting Clays course is now open!

We are always looking for qualified outside staff. If interested, please contact the club at 262-547-9785, come in and fill out an application or send resume to manager@waukeshagunclub.org.
