Wisconsin Author to Donate Books to 100 Local Schools

wisconsin authorDE SOTO, Wisconsin – Kerri J. Busteed, the local author of two children’s books, will donate 200 e-books to schools.

It is estimated that one out of three families has no father figure in the home. The average child spends 4-1/2 hours a day in front of screens, often alone with a video game, computer, or television as the only source of entertainment. Parents need to find ways to get good quality role models for their children, get them away from the screens, and back into the great outdoors and nature.

Kerri Busteed, author of Will’s First Hunt and Will’s Bow Hunting Adventure, is donating 200 copies of her e-books to schools with the help of Mathews Inc. Her books are written in a story format for enjoyable reading. While the author believes these books will get kids excited about learning new outdoor sports, no hunter learns the sport alone. Hunting requires children talk to a trusted adult to mentor them and also enrollment in hunters’ safety classes.

The author has two children of her own and has enjoyed watching them as they have started hunting. She attended hunters’ safety with them so they could learn how to safely handle firearms, and spent time exploring the woods and looking for signs of animals. For her and her children, husband Pat Busteed became their mentor and role model. Kerri feels Pat  has taught them all to appreciate their time outdoors, learning new skills, and spending quality time together.

Kerri, along with sponsor Mathews, Inc., hope to get elementary students excited about learning new outdoor sports through the donation of the author’s two books. All schools are eligible to receive these books while supplies last. Please send an e-mail to FreeKidsBooks@gmail.com and include the name of your school, city, state, and the name of your librarian or person in charge of book purchases. Books can then be obtained from either Barnes and Noble, Amazon, or Follett Library Resources.

Visit www.kerribusteed.com or Teachingbooks.net to learn more about Kerri and her books. If your company would like to help donate more books to schools or if your school would like Kerri to come for an author visit, please contact her at FreeKidsBooks@gmail.com.

Now in order to hunt when he turns 12, Will must prove that he is mature enough to handle the responsibilities that come with the sport. Wills Bow Hunting AdventureChildren ages 7 to 12 will especially love Will’s Bow Hunting Adventure. Set in Wisconsin, Will Barnes recently finished his first hunting season, but he just doesn’t feel happy. It isn’t until Christmas, when Grandpa gives him a bow for a gift that Will realizes what has been missing is a new skill to learn.

Will is an only child who lives on the family farm with his dad. The two share a common bond in hunting, as does Will’s best friend, Brian. A classmate named Stella is intrigued when she hears the boys talking about venison stew and sees pictures of the deer that live on Will’s farm. She joins Will and Brian’s quest to learn how to be great bow hunters. The friends join an archery league, build a practice shooting stand, and study the land for the best place to go bow hunting.

This outdoor adventure combines the learning of hunting skills with the skills needed to get along with others.
