Stan Element Review

By: Jenna Heil

Stan Element ReviewArchery is about shooting at targets and hitting bullseyes, and to shoot lots of bullseyes you have to be consistent. Lately I have not been consistent with my thumb trigger release so I had to change to a back tension or tension release.

I tried a couple different ones. First I tried a back tension, but whenever I pulled it back it would go off, so I knew that it wasn’t the right one for me. The next one I tried was the Stan Element. I loved it!

This was the perfect release for me. It has two sizes, a medium and large size, so I can fit into the medium. I got so used to pulling back differently than what you would do with a back tension release.  I would always pull back wrong and it would go off on me. With this release I know it will not go off on me as long as I have the safety on. It also has the full finger hole that I like.

How you set this release off is you first you have to pull back with the thumb pulling post. That is the post that looks like a trigger. If you don’t it will go off on you while drawing. Once you get to full draw you let go of the thumb pulling post, and all you do is use your back muscles and pull to let it go off. Then to reload it, you push the safety backwards.

I would recommend this to young shooters because it teaches them not to punch the trigger and have good form. So later on your archery life, you will not gain the habit of punching. Even though I like this release you have to find the release that fits and works you. With anything new it is going to take some time to get used but with a little practice I am hoping this release will help me with my punching problem. Always remember lots of practice will keep you consistence and will help you “shoot you way to bullseyes”
