Wisconsin 2015 Hunter Education Conference
This conference is open to all active, retired, apprentice, junior instructors, Department of Natural Resources Staff, and supporters of Hunter Education and their families. The Annual Conference will be held at the Hotel Mead & Convention Center in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Address and reservation information is below. Registration increases after April 1st!!!
There are several important emphasis topics this year. The first is an Instructor Round-Table with the Hunter Education Administrator. All topics are on the table. This is your chance to bring issues forward to the Administrator and Recreational Safety Wardens (RSW), and to ask questions.
The Round-Table will be followed by the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point Student Law Enforcement Association (UWSP SLEA), presenting who they are, what they do, and how students (youth of today) learn. Typical student behavior we see in our class!
Additional presentations are planned on: How to correctly administer the required field exam; the new and mandatory 2015 Tree Stand Lesson Plan; review of 2014 hunting incidents; the Wisconsin Muzzle Loading Rifle Association and muzzle loading for hunter education classes; Federal and State requirements for access ability for disabled hunters, lessons learned from class audits, more on crossbows building on last year’s Wisconsin Crossbow Association presentation, and more….
The conference qualifies for continuing education credit. Event information will be posted on www.wheia.com as it becomes available.
Following the conference will be the 2015 Wisconsin Hunter Education Instructor of the Year Awards banquet, (Hunter Education Instructor of the Year, Archery Instructor of the Year, Instructor Group of the Year, and Hunter Education Professional of the Year awards), with guest speakers on Tree Stand Safety Research on Injuries, WHEIA elections, firearm and fund raising raffles.
