July's New Features for onX Hunt
We’re excited to launch our new fully-featured 3D integration for the onX desktop mapping experience. Just in time for scouting season, this release gives you the industry-leading 3D experience you’ve been dreaming about. It brings the ability to view all map Layers in 3D, create and view all Markups in 3D, and a unified experience between 2D/3D at all times.
onX selected the top 19 crop types that have wildlife value and mapped them out across the U.S., giving you more than 320 million acres of crop lands for your scouting purposes. These layers show the crops planted in 2020, and can be used to determine what crops are likely to be planted in the upcoming year based on last year’s crop. Combined with knowledge of crop lifecycles, rotation, and regional variations, this unique insight will help you connect the species you’re hunting with the food sources they prefer.
Weather has been one of our most popular tools in the mobile onX Hunt App, and we’re excited to now bring it to the desktop map. Easily see the current conditions, sunrise/sunset, barometric pressure, weekly forecast, and the hourly forecast including rainfall, temperature, and wind direction. To pull up the Wind & Weather, click on the weather button in the bottom right of the screen to view weather for the location you’re exploring.
We’ve implemented a new round of search improvements to help you find locations faster and easier. A new type-ahead search feature automatically performs the search as you type, and under each search result you’ll also see the nearest city/state, along with the distance from your current location. Your recent searches will also be stored so you can quickly return to them, and icons added to search results for points of interest.
